A Shoin (pronounced 'show-een') is a Chinese-style room used for writing in medieval and early modern Japan, or for the appearance of and homage to writing and literature. I'm using this blog as a little writing room of my own, containing ideas and issues I'm thinking through as a person and as a performance studies focused academic in the Humanities.
